Ultimate Spin looks at a different strand of Spider-Man’s web, namely the one belonging to Miles Morales – the young man who’d inherited the mantle of great power and responsibility following the death of Peter Parker in Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man series.
Whether you’ve been following Miles since he was introduced in 2011 or if you’ve been on the fence about giving him a chance, Ultimate Spin is your podcast companion to Miles’ adventures as Spider-Man. Marvel relaunched the series as Miles Morales: The Ultimate Spider-Man in 2014, along with a boldly different series about his team, entitled All-New Ultimates.
Ultimate Spin features an international group of Spider-Man fans reviewing and discussing the stories in those two series, as well as chatting about the history of the Ultimate Spider-Man series and what the future has in store for Miles.
In our second of two episodes this month, we try to make sense of the mysterious “The End” solicitation for April and the Secret Wars announcement, check in with Miles and his dad in Miles Morales #9 and bid a fond farewell to the All-New Ultimates with issue #12.
0:00 – Intro
1:51 – Is Miles’ series ending (again)? Can his character work in a redefined Marvel Universe with more than one Spider-Man? And what about Spider-Men 2?
8:11 – Miles Morales #9: Wow. Brave new emotional territory (and not just for a Spider-Man comic, either)
28:13 – All-New Ultimates #12: Goodbye and good riddance. Can Miles work in a team book?
1:02:04 – Outro
