Spider-Gwen was already near success as soon as fans saw Robbi Rodriguez‘s first promotional art for the “Spider-Verse” tie-in. Riding the waves of admiration from Edge Of Spider-Verse #2, the new Spider-Woman has found a place in the hearts of spider-fans everywhere – and early next year, Gwen is going to get a chance to thrill us all over again with her own ongoing series.
Like most love stories involving spandex – this fairytale comes to us from New York Comic-Con, where Newsarama reports that Spider-Gwen’s ongoing was announced in a “closed door” panel along with several other high profile MARVEL announcements. Reportedly, Jason Latour will return to scribe Stacy in the new series; joined again by artist, Robbi Rodriguez – fantastic news for fans of the originality and voice of our favorite blonde drummer.
Details are in short supply – Marvel hasn’t even teased us with any promotion art… YET. What state Gwen is in, and her whereabouts after “Spider-Verse” are still anyone’s guess at this point. The title name is also a bit of a mystery; should it continue under Spider-Woman as originally written – or will it’s lovingly and widely adopted Spider-Gwen moniker be used?
More information is expected to come soon, and you can be sure the folks here will be watching this development with a lot of interest; stay tuned for any Spider-News as it happens. In the meantime, enjoy our EXCLUSIVE interview with the Spider-Gwen creators, Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez.
